Hi, my name is Monica.  I believe plants are powerful and homegrown food tastes better.  I’m obsessed with growing things, love the outdoors, and hope to inspire others to start their own gardens so they can grow some of their own food.  When I’m not in my garden, you’ll probably find me on a trail deep in the trees with my dogs. My husband and I live on our 6.5 acre homestead in Washington State with our 3 pit bulls, 2 cats and 16 chickens.  Read more …

Forget knee high by the fourth of July! This corn Forget knee high by the fourth of July! This corn is already as tall as my hips! This is by far my best year for corn ever. This happens to be a spot in the garden where I added spent straw from the goat pen, composted chicken manure and a fresh layer of woodchips. This is also the third year of this Back to Eden garden, which is when things are really supposed to pop off. I think I have built some very healthy, happy soil. 😊

Biscuits and Billy are already guarding the chicke Biscuits and Billy are already guarding the chicken coop. I love these pups so much. I also can't believe the chickens haven't completely destroyed the plants I planted by their coop and am loving how the roses are climbing this arch. I can't wait until it is completely covered in red roses!

Meet Biscuits and Billy, our new livestock guardia Meet Biscuits and Billy, our new livestock guardians pups. They are fluffy little clouds of joy and I'm madly in love already. There's nothing like puppies. They are going to have the very important job of protecting all of the goats and chickens on our little farm. It is so fun watching them meet all of our other animals. Fluffy little clouds of joy.
